Celebrate the Holidays at The Westcott House- The Westcott House Holiday Program

Let us take you to the wonderland, authentic Arts & Crafts era! Beginning November 29th, tours will be enhanced by a special decor reminiscent of the times when the Westcott family resided at 1340 East High Street. In the spirit of the Arts and Crafts Movement, we will recreate the interior decorations that will match the subtle beauty of this Unique Prairie Style house.

The Arts and Crafts Movement was a major aesthetic movement that occurred in the last years of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century. It was a powerful trend that influenced architecture, decorative arts, crafts and even a lifestyle. Frank Lloyd Wright himself was a member of the Chicago Arts and Crafts Society, a group of artists who pledged "to cultivate in its members and through them in others, a just sense of beauty." We can only guess that Orpha, remembered by descendants as a progressive and forward-thinking woman, implemented new ideas while decorating her new home.
