Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator will coordinate student and community volunteer services program for the Westcott House Foundation. Under the supervision of Curator of Interpretation, the Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling volunteers. This person will also research and implement continuing education opportunities for the volunteers and work with volunteer committees. Serving as a liaison between staff and volunteers, the Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. This person will also assist with daily management of Museum Store and Visitor Services, as well as actively participate in the efforts to establish the highest level of customer service.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and communication skills essential
  • Ability to handle challenging situations while affirming institutional policies and procedures
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Evening and weekend events require flexible schedule
  • Work week includes occasionally weekends
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

    Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Experience in non-profit, preferably museum setting
  • Strong volunteer experience
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Computer literate/Internet savvy
  • Database management experience
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities

    This is a full time, 40 hour a week position and includes attending special events on weekends and in the evenings. Salary commensurate with experience.
