A Home in a Prairie Town

This was the first of four model homes Wright designed for the magazine described in "A Home in a Prairie Town." The house was the harbinger of what became known as the Prairie Style.

"The exterior recognizes the influence of the prairie, is firmly and broadly associated with the site, and makes a feature of its quiet level," Wright wrote in the article that accompanied the design. "The low terraces and broad eaves are designed to accentuate that quiet level and complete the harmonious relationship." The design could be mail-ordered from the magazine for $5.
