Product Description

In 1905, Frank Lloyd Wright made his first trip to Japan and upon his return, designed The Westcott House with plans that reflected a distinctive, interpretive, yet traditional Japanese architectural influence.  Today we understand that The Westcott House clearly signifies Wright’s evolution towards a new, more refined, and changing Prairie style architecture.  It was essential that the house appear natural and harmonious to its setting.  The exterior material was frequently off-white or earth tone stucco and had horizontal decorative banding that suggested the low horizon of the Midwestern prairie.  Prairie houses grew in popularity during the first ten years of the 20th century.

Vintage picture of the Westcott House  matted and framed in a solid wood frame.
