Springfield leaders began reinventing their city in the 1890s during an intense period of social and political reform known as the Progressive Era. Join us on a bicycle tour along Springfield’s scenic trails as we examine the people and projects that helped to transform Springfield into the “Best 60,000 City in America,” including Bennetta Titlow’s fresh air baby camps, Jessie Good’s City Beautiful reforms, and George Kessler’s comprehensive park plan. Meet outside the Westcott House shop, 85 South Greenmount Avenue.
