"Iggy Peck, Architect" Online Reading

Date:
Monday, May 25, 2020 - 1:00pm to Thursday, December 31, 2020 - 1:00pm

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Westcott House partners with Peter Exley, AIA National 2021 President-Elect to deliver “Iggy Peck, Architect” reading to your home.

Peter Exley is founder of Architecture Is Fun (architectureisfun.com). Hisclients have included the Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo and DuPage Children's Museum. He was elected as the American Institute of Architects' first vice president for 2020 and its president-elect for 2021. He and his wife, Sharon Exley, the firm's president, live in Chicago.

Through this project, we hope to reach teachers and parents, who are invited to use the reading in virtual class and during summer months, as well as access many wonderful resources on the author’s website: andreabeaty.com. Wright public sites continue their efforts to introduce virtual activities for children to supplement in-person and hands-on experiences that are suspended due to the pandemic.

As Exley said, “Most architects empathize with Iggy Peck. With things they have at hand, he and his classmates build an ingenious bridge to save Miss Lila Greer. Like Iggy, architects work with our neighbors, using design to solve problems in our communities. We are dreamers and doers, dedicated to building a more healthy, sustainable and equitable world for everyone.”

This is precisely what Peter Exley does through his leadership role at AIA, and as a teacher and founder of Architecture Is Fun. And it is the mission of Wright public sites nationwide as they strive to advance understanding and appreciation of architecture & design through many public programs they provide.

Iggy Peck, Architect, as well as the new book from the series, Iggy Peck and the Mysterious Mansion, released on May 12, is available at westcottstore.org
